When the demo stack attempts to notify users via email, this results in an exception that stifles the whole workflow and creates a really bad UX. Simplifying the default "Review and Approve" workflow seems to solve the issue.

Note that an alternative would be to fix email sending (by implementing a SaaS solution?)

I have a drop-in replacement mailer for Sendgrid https://github.com/unclecheese/silverstripe-sendgrid-mailer

100 transactional emails per day free.
