A small niggle with 1414s on old Macs. 50% chance of running first time #174

We love the Kinect and use it for all our interactive shows. We currently have 8 Kinect pieces running in two large shows in the UK using old Mac Minis and 1414s and Processing 3.5.3. These shows sometimes run for several months for 8 hours daily. Kinect is old so we use old second hand Mac Minis running Sierra, Monterey, Catalina, or whichever old OSX they have on them. Usually from about 2012. We just install Processing. Install the Shiffman library and it works out of the box every time.

So all is good, but we do have a small niggle with turn on.

The first time you run the sketch the Kinect works about 50% of the time. If it does not work, we just escape the program and run it again and it always works 100%. This behaviour is consistent across all the early OSXs.

We would like to find a solution to this to tidy up this process,
There was a post '1473 fails every other time' #45 which sort of sounds related. We don't really want to reprogram the freenect library if that is what is needed. Is there an easier solution in Processing?

Has anyone else had this issue?

Thanks
