I wanted to collect a few resources for grants here I just found, until we have a place to put them in the Jupyter repo.

Microsoft has a relevant grant:

AI for Accessibility grants support projects that use AI to empower people living with disabilities. We are looking for individuals or teams who are not only passionate about making the world more inclusive, but also firmly rooted in the communities they intend to benefit. We want to invest in ideas that are developed by or with people with disabilities.

The ford foundation just gave a bunch of grants for improving accessibility of open source, but I am not sure if any might apply to us: https://www.fordfoundation.org/the-latest/news/major-philanthropies-tackle-inequality-by-strengthening-how-open-source-code-is-developed-and-maintained/

Then there are the Chan Zuckerburg Initiative open-source grants  which we have gotten before for JupyterLab and could be a good target!

What kind of business is JupiterLab? A lot of these grants look like they're for governments and 501(c)3s

The grant could go through a number of organizations. Numfocus is the fiscal steward of jupyter and it's a nonprofit I believe. Also it could go through 2i2c possibly, which is also a non profit.

Isabella just started this discussion as well for talking about grants, which is more centrally located: jupyter/accessibility#26
