I know that I'm a little bit behind:

# apt-cache policy kibana
kibana:

but I want to install the plugin using the "Download .zip" functionality from github and "kibana-plugin install " is this even possible?

/usr/share/kibana/bin/kibana-plugin install https://codeload.github.com/sasauz/kibana_vis_gantt/zip/master

It is not possible yeat, but I would do it in next time (approximetly 2 Months).
