A bug in the preview mesh generator can cause large thin rectangle artifacts to appear in the fluid surface preview mesh on some frames. Screenshot from this reddit post:

This bug has been in the addon since version 1.0.4. This issue can be fixed, but is currently a low priority since these artifacts do not affect the rendered final mesh. To display the correctly generated mesh in the viewport, switch the Surface Viewport Display setting to Final in the FLIP Fluid Display settings panel.

This issue was related to floating point precision error and has been fixed! This fix will be available in experimental versions >= 9.0.9.09 (Release on 04-nov-2020) or stable versions > 1.0.8a (Release TBA).

For information on the 9.0.9.xx experimental builds, see #500.
