Generators & Scaffolds

Generators are part of what makes Redwood a joy. There's going to be a majorly-requested feature (path customization) going in before v1 (most likely!), but the more all-inclusive, DIY customizations will probably have to wait.

We definitely have to fix pluralization!

Customizing Generators

We intend to enable and promote generator customization, but it most likely won't stop us from releasing v1. Here's some of the discussion we've had around this topic and a short description of the status of each:

  • some great ideas were thrown around in both of these issues that just need to be picked up again at the right time

Customizing the path

This has been asked for again and again, so it's probably something we should consider for v1. It's also actively being worked on!

  • Doesn't seem like a dealbreaker for a v1 release candidate, but definitely fails our DX test leaving files around like that. A good first issue though!

  • We definitely need to do a better job of saying upfront what the generators can and can't do.
