Listing and navigating through users is a pain

My browser just lags and freezes quite long as we have thousands of users through LDAP connection. It would be much better if we could get pagination, alphabetical navigation, maybe some filters. Also, I think a cache would improve performance.

There’s a mix of technical and design issues in here. The design issues are addressed in #1927, as always someone just needs to implement it (we’ll do soon). Caching would be useful though. @DeathBorn can you file a separate issue for that, explaining more what you would need?
