I find it somewhat uncomfortable to find the synonyms and related terms in Transifex. I get the idea (which may be true), that some presets and fields just don't have them added in English / elsewhere yet and therefore I'm unable to add them in English. Or that, due to the way synonyms and related terms structure has changed historically, some may be listed in the preset's own translation and it is not communicated to the translator.
The problem is that names, synonyms and related terms are not well linked and therefore one must resort to regular search and may need to go into the preset's file to find the terms to search for.
(If there are names which are not supposed to have synonyms or related terms for some reason let me know)
My understanding is, that the EN terms all belong inside the JSON, not inside Transifex. I expected Transifex to not have any content there, since that would be a weird duplication of what is in the JSON directly. I tried describing that in https://github.com/openstreetmap/id-tagging-schema#translations.
Btw, we need to update that section since it is not only the "terms" key only, anymore, right?
