When I open the built-in Terminal.app and open a new tab a "ghost" window gets inserted that takes the space that would be necessary if the terminal window wouldn't be in a tab.
It's only reproducible with Terminal.app as iTerm or any other tabbing app like Safari, Chrome etc. don't show this behaviour.
