1.1.0 Beta 10 | no table audio and launch audio sound #257
Comments
You might want to try installing the previous version you were using and see if that fixes it. I don't think there's anything that changed in B10 that would affect those audio features, so maybe something else on your system changed coincidentally. Backing out to an earlier version (where you know it was working previously) would help tell which it is - if it's no longer working with the older version either, then it must be something else that got updated, like a system driver. |
Hmm. I would say that he is somewhat right. I'm in the process of reinstalling everything + hardware upgrade etc. I was so confident that I overwrote my previous working" PBY version. I'm not sure how old it was, but, I have a backup somewhere. Reason for not upgrading before was that I was still on Win7 64bit and ffmpeg stopped working at some point. Could not record videos etc. Partly related to old nvidia drivers etc. Yes, I know, needs to be DX version of VP. My problem is not the same, rather the opposite. Downloaded v10 and installed v9 the same way. Just extracted the archive, copied over settings.txt - I know that gamestats.csv is partly used, even though my db is set to PinballX. What is my problem ? I want table audios the be quiet - 10% ... it sounds like they start with this, but, within a very short time - maybe a second it becomes "very loud". Even with PinVol set to night mode. I really can't use this, will be killed by sleeping wife. |
Ok, I had 5 :) |
I'm afraid there's probably not much I can do to figure it at this point, short of packing up your machine and mailing it to me so I can have a look at the concrete test case. So hopefully B7 will hold you for a while. If your problem had started in B8, I would have suspected that it was the switch to the latest libvlc in B8. But B7 doesn't look like it has any comparable change to the audio/video code. |
Eh. Yes, it started in B8, that's why I stick to B7 ?! Sure, B7 is fine, was hoping to get up to the new ffmpeg stuff, have a 4070 Super now so it should be fast making those videos. But, well, I'm old - I've got time :) |
Ah, right, perhaps libvlc is the issue after all, then. It's possible that something there changed that's incompatible with your system upgrades. libvlc is a bunch of DLLs, so you might be able to grab the libvlc folder from B7 and see if it works with the PinballY.exe from B10, but DLL version mixing doesn't always work well. ffmpeg is a separate executable, and it's just the stock official release, so you could easily update that separately. Although you'd need the new capture options added in B9/B10 to use DDAGRAB, so there might not be much point. |
Thanks. I will give that libvlc a go tomorrow. |
Well, you said that a couple of dll' should be enough to replace. Not really. After replacing only libvlc.dll and libvlccore.dll the issue where still there. BUT, I then deleted the whole VLC64 folder and copied over the one from Beta7. Problem seems to be solved. Now, I need to figure out why my recordings gets all screwed up. New Recording : It is most probably related to upgrade to the latest db2s and new screenres.txt format. Maybe something in the old settings.txt. Reason for saying that, even my copy of Beta 5 does this now. Upgrading everything - there is always something. 😄 |
I should have been clearer that I was indeed talking about replacing the entire libvlc tree - the whole thing is a matched set, with all of those codecs and filters and so on. It's good to know that's where the problem is, although there's really nothing I can do to fix it since that's all third-party code. Hopefully whatever it is will get noticed in the generic VLC player and fixed in a future libvlc update. |
Hi both, Sorry i was busy yesterday .. but it is definitely the vlclib... i replaced the current with the old one from an old backup and the sound works again. Your discussion helped to fix my issu.... i hope this will be fixed in future vlclib´s. Thank you @mjrgh for your energy to help here & invest into the topic and also your feedback sverrewl in the discussion here. Sidenote: @sverrewl i loved your scripts for VPX very much... great stuff. |
Hi MJR,
first thank you so much for all your efforts into this wonderfull tool (and also to the pinscape upate)!
Now about the Bug:
since the update to 1.1.0 Beta 10, i dont have "table audio" and "launch audio" anymore.
The Audio files are correct in the relevant folders, videos (table, dmd, backglass) with the same naming still work, also the "system sound" (navigate tables) work, settings like "video mute" etc. dont have any influence (and make no sence of course i know, just to say "i tried this too").
So there´s no "generall sound error"... but as mentioned... no table & launch audio and i didnt found any solution or workarround with google yet.
Best regards
Ralf
