What command did you run?

mila init

Describe the bug

The first time the problem occurred was after the password was entered correctly. Subsequently the error occurs before the password is entered. Have checked that the password was entered correctly and tried deleting the .ssh folder and re-doing mila init and still get the same error.

Desktop (please complete the following information):

Windows 11

Additional context

I also got a different error when doing mila init on macOS and have submitted an issue. Only on the Mila assigned HP laptop with Linux
system the error does not occur.

Hello there @wenhao-mila, it seems like you've encountered a bug in the way we try to do the same job as ssh-copy-id on Windows.

For now I'd suggest setting up the Windows Subsystem for Linux (WSL) following the guide here: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/wsl/install
Then, I'd recommend setting up uv (or conda, or whatever virtual environment manager you like, or even none if you really want to ) and then install milatools in WSL.
