Testing #21878

  1. Create Python file and venv
  2. Open it in VS Code with latest prerelease of Python extension
  3. 🐛 status bar item shows I don't have the venv autoselected, instead I have to manually select it

Unfortunately I'm unable to repro this with a fresh setup. I suspect all these issues are happening somewhere between testing #21878, so it's difficult to predict what happened before so we land here.

Can you please try with a fresh setup (Python: Clear cache command and a new workspace folder) and see if you're able to reproduce this issue?

Because we have not heard back with the information we requested, we are closing this issue for now. If you are able to provide the info later on, then we will be happy to re-open this issue to pick up where we left off.

Happy Coding!
