Repro Steps

Describe the bug

When trying to install a package using apt-get in WSL, the command fails with the error message "E: Unable to locate package".

System Information

  • Windows 10 Pro, version 21H2
  • WSL version 2
  • Ubuntu 20.04 LTS

Steps to Reproduce

  1. Open PowerShell as Administrator.
  2. Run the command wsl --list --verbose to ensure WSL is running.
  3. Launch the Ubuntu terminal from the Start menu.
  4. Run the command sudo apt-get update.
  5. Run the command sudo apt-get install <package_name>.
  6. Observe the error message "E: Unable to locate package".

Expected Behavior

The package should be installed successfully without any error messages. According to the [Ubuntu documentation](https

wsl 1 and wsl 2 working perfuct stop all interubtible files

Actual Behavior

files corrupted and missing

Set-ExecutionPolicy Bypass -Scope Process -Force
.\collect-wsl-logs.ps1

The script will output the path of the log file once done.

If this is a networking issue, please use collect-networking-logs.ps1, following the instructions here

Once completed please upload the output files to this Github issue.
