I get "The System detected an overrun of a stack-based buffer in this application. This overrun could potentially allow a malicious user to gain control of this application." I installed PT using choco which after clicking on it in the Task-bar I got this error. I then uninstalled it and used the .msi file and got the same error.

Hi @x3rt
thank you for reporting the issue. Is there any significant information you can provide to replicate the problem? Did you change any default during the installation? Can you provide some software and hardware information about your system? (Windows version, CPU, RAM and so on)
Thank you.

I used all the default values for the installation.
Holding down the Windows key shows all shortcuts and pressing "Win+~" also opens the custom layout menu. But when I press on it in the taskbar menu I just get the error I stated previously.

My System specs:
Windows 10 Home 1903
32GB DDR4
Intel i7 8700k
GTX 1080

Hi @x3rt
can you please check if this problem is still present in the 0.13.0 release?
Thank you.

I also had this issue when trying to open the settings in version 0.14.1. Tracked mine down to a missing entry for Win32WebViewHost though I am unsure why it, among others, was missing as the files still all exist

re-added
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Appx\AppxAllUserStore\InboxApplications\Microsoft.Win32WebViewHost_10.0.17763.1_neutral_neutral_cw5n1h2txyewy]
"Path"="C:\Windows\SystemApps\Microsoft.Win32WebViewHost_cw5n1h2txyewy\AppxManifest.xml" back in and rebooted

Once Win32WebViewHost was working again the PowerToys Settings would finally open without the error

@x3rt we are on 0.14.1, is this still an issue?

I'm having a different issue in 0.14.1.
Nothing happens when I click settings but when I double click the icon the setting box "opens" but it's plain black and disappears after ~1 second.

that looks to be the webview issue, #243 then, correct @enricogior? Looks like the main issue here is fixed but there is another one still here.

Yes, the original issues seems to be fixed, but @x3rt is now facing the settings bug.
I guess we should close this one and redirect @x3rt to #243

Unfortunately we won't be able to make any fix to the old settings.
