Microsoft PowerToys version

"0.37.2"

Running as admin

  • Yes

Area(s) with issue?

Keyboard Manager

Steps to reproduce

  1. Go to the Keyboard Manager

2)Change your PowerToys search bar shortcut

3)Press "Remap Key"

4)Now try typing anywhere in your computer and try opening chrome and other applications with the mouse

✔️ Expected Behavior

Shortcuts work and everything fine.

❌ Actual Behavior

All the letters you type come as capital letters, even if the caps lock key is not pressed.
Full keyboard is in shift too, For eg- If I try to press 2 from the Top-row of numbers, it types as @ instead of 2.
If I try to click on any application it does not open it, or it opens a new tab if it is for a browser.
All the keys do different functions than intended.

I have done some tests and this is not my computer issue or keyboard driver issues, all this problems occur whenever I Enable Keyboard Manager (from PowerToys).

So now I don't Enable it anymore!!
Otherwise, the application is a good utility....

Can we actually see what you're trying to accomplish? Looking at what your provided, it looks like you're trying to single key activate PT Run and using KBM as the work around. Is this correct?

  1. KBM setting Shift (right) -> Shift-v.
  2. PT Run activator as Shift-v

Shift-v as an activator i don't think is a good then since you'll want a capital v from time to time. This could also be causing some pretty odd behaviors due to you're mapping left and right shifts against one another and then using that as a trigger for another key.
