Kitodo 2 offers the "Set preview image" = Repräsentant setzen function which selects the preview image in the metadata editor. Image 1 is set by default. In the METS, the selected mets:file-element is labelled with @use="banner".
I have not found a function in the Kitodo 3 UI to change @use="banner" in the METS.
It would be helpful to be able to modify the preview image and select the title page as a preview image instead of the book cover. Digitised items can thus be better differentiated, e.g. in Deutsche Digitale Bibliothek.

Although it was made quite clear there, especially for Kitodo Presentation, that a defined teaser image would not be used, I suppose a teaser image is still useful when, for example, you convert to IIIF Manifests, which employ a similar concept called thumbnail. (https://iiif.io/api/presentation/3.0/#thumbnail).
