Hope you're all doing great! 😊 First off, huge thanks for making such an awesome product available under the Apache License.

Just a quick question - about the antelopev2 model mentioned in your README. Is it cool to use this model for commercial projects if we download it from your link?

And hey, if it's not meant for commercial use, any chance you could point me towards a similar model that is? That'd be super helpful.

Thanks.

As for the license of antelopev2, please ask for the insightface team.

Thank you for your reply.

OK, but the results seem predictable.

Do you know any models as excellent as antelopev2 with a clear license?

antelopev2 (as well as all of the models in the insightface model zoo) do not allow commercial use.

In the inference code you provided, it looks an embedding from antelopev2 is passed straight into the diffusion pipeline — does that imply that we can only run InstantID using antelopev2 embeddings (in which case there's effectively there's no commercial use allowed for InstantID, despite the Apache license)?

The code of InstantID is released under Apache License for both academic and commercial usage. However, both manual-downloading and auto-downloading face models from insightface are for non-commercial research purposes only accoreding to their license.

We focus on single-person images and utilize a pre-trained face model, antelopev2, for detecting and extracting face ID embeddings from human images.

Additionally, the paper mentioned that the model used during training also depends on antelopev2.
So, should the license on Hugging Face be updated too?

And indeed, the emergence of a clean model that does not depend on InsightFace is awaited.
