I really, really wish so... I am trying to get any windows dev interested into the project - just to rebuild it for new Windows; but so far no one is interested :( |
:,( |
That is why I migrated everything to GitHub, hoping someone will catch up and... help. But for several years now, no one expressed even remotely will to participate :( And I all ask for now is just to rebuild for new Windows, like you said. [Sigh] |
I still didn’t saw ANY other program with ability to fold window to floating icon (closest is “4t tray minimizer” with ability to fold to titlebar (while it have fewer functionality compared to dm2 and have same incompatibility issue)), |
The one thing I consider critical for DM2 is ability to hide apps in the tray. Windows 10 has utterly broken this ability with the Metro UI. As I understand it, Metro apps cannot even access the tray. The other issue is with everything being "so secure" now [read: nobody can use anything] DM2 has to be launched in administrator mode for the tray tool to work. I'm a seasoned Win32 developer but haven't worked much with 64 and especially Windows 10. Maybe I'll pick it up, idk. Home improvements take all my time currently. I have a toolbar app (LaunchMate [lnchmate.exe]) I also cling to which I consider critical and Microsoft is doing everything they can to break it. I wish they'd just leave core functionality alone but who am I? |
I remember that once under Windows XP DM2 was among my top favourites- tiny, light, rich, configurable, portable. When I switched to Windows 8 I noticed that not all features were working right. I can say that I miss DM2 very much since I have never found an alternative that covers all the features offered by DM2. @igr I hope that someone will get involved with DM2, it is always a pity when such great projects get abandoned. I will be happy if there are just maintenance releases (without any new features). |
@smaragdus for both reasons: moved from Windows, plus I've been working on other things... I truly wish if someone could join, that's why I moved everything to GitHub. I tried to reach people who knows to code on Windows, just to refresh the app, but so far no one want to join :( |
I understand. I posted in two places that help is needed for refreshing and maintaining DM2 project: I hope that a developer interested in DM2 revival would be found, sooner or later. |
Work without problems under Windows 10 x64, but support only x32 programs =( |
On-top can't be disabled trough a title-bar controls, on a new Win10 1903 's Explorer windows (170X was/are fine). |
i've checked for an other software that can do what DM2 can, seems, now, thats the only ones present:
also a 4t Tray Minimizer and PowerPro can minimize/roll-up windows to a title-bar . The DM2 Stays the best in class :) , and trough keyboard it works fully, and there is not other program that would do so :') . |
oh, the AWM actually have the ability to set Minimize To Floating Icon keyboard shortcut, the needed list-box item are named Alt Min (the name are different from the one used in a Mouse \ Actions), so it actually can replace the DM2, its really not comfortable and time-consuming to set-up for a 1st time (then just export, import the settings, because you'll won't want to do this again), but seems so it more or less have all the features . i also barely could see the setting to disable Window Position Follows Floating Icon, that are located in : Window Setting \ Default Settings \ Title Buttons \ Alt Min \ Action Options \ Save position (global effect, the only place where the setting are shown), and couldn't make so also the floating icon would appear on position of a corner of the window . what is the sick logic the developers used ? i would stay with DM2 even if it just would have the title-bar's on-top case fixed :) |
I realize this is late, but just a suggestion if you are still interested in attracting devs/attention to the project: The original sourceforge project (how I initially discovered this project) states that:
and this links to a PROJECT NOT FOUND page on GitHub. You might consider fixing the link (lowercasing the project name). 😁 |
@pa-0 where do you see the link? I just logged in and I see a correct one: |
I must be losing it. I just went back and scoured the page in search of the link but came up empty. I could've sworn it was a link I clicked that led me to the GitHub's NOT FOUND page... I guess I typed in the wrong URL manually. At any rate, sorry for the false alarm! |
Is any chance that the awesome program will be updated for compatibility with all currently unsupported windows (frames)?
