23.10.1

Previous release #5996

Checklist

  • Confirm anything outstanding for release with other maintainers on #besu-release
  • Update main gradle.properties to 23.10.2-SNAPSHOT and create new changelog section
    • Ideally this commit "bookmarks" the release - so do this after all other commits that are to be included in the release
  • Update nightly nodes with 23.10.2-SNAPSHOT
  • Notify maintainers about updating changelog for in-flight PRs
  • Merge main branch onto release-23.10.x branch
    • Update gradle.properties on the release branch to be 23.10.1-RC and remove the empty "next release" changelog section
  • Start burn-in of 23.10.1-RC
  • Sign off burn-in monitoring
  • Bump 23.10.1-RC to 23.10.1 on release branch (not main!)
  • Docker release startup test:
    • docker run hyperledger/besu:23.10.1
    • docker run hyperledger/besu:23.10.1-arm64
    • docker run hyperledger/besu:23.10.1-openjdk-17
    • docker run hyperledger/besu:23.10.1-openjdk-latest
    • docker run --platform linux/amd64 hyperledger/besu:23.10.1-amd64
  • Draft release notes in Github
  • Draft homebrew PR
  • Draft documentation release
  • Sign-off with team
  • Publish release in Github (which triggers docker latest tag)
  • Docker latest release startup test
    • docker run --pull=always hyperledger/besu:latest
  • Merge homebrew PR
  • Publish Docs Release
  • Social announcements
