this is my personal inconvenience , that it otherwise requires some config for xdg-open when trying
to combine mdt with another tool.
I've found mdt more convenient to preview/navigate a set of documents than typora

No idea how being in alternate mode will affect whatever program opening the file, but it is a good idea.
