as can be seen in my code, >>= (top right) is highlighted correctly, but <<= (bottom right) is not. that's all, thanks.

Seems like a slip up in the query file:

"<<"
">>="
"@"

Only >>= is in the list of operators; adding <<= should fix the issue.
