This works for the most part, although there were a few things that didn't behave quite right.

There is a typo in the example sdf file, found here. In the gpu_lidar, it has alwaysOn instead of always_on. I forked the file and made the fix here, but I don't really see a way to get that fix in the original gist. I'm not convinced a gist is the best format for an eample sdf.

The gpu_lidar didn't visualize in gazebo. Maybe this is being addressed in another ticket. I was able to verify the lidar was working by viewing it in rviz instead.

fixed and moved the tutorial world file to gz-sim in gazebosim/gz-sim#2585. Updated tutorial to include instruction for visualizing lidar.
