Both while still disconnected, and after reconnect when the "resend?" link is at the bottom of the channel
Okay, the message finally went away. Not sure if it was switching away from the channel and back, that I was away for 5min or so, or that I was offline for a bit in between.

Reproduced. It seems that cancel sending is only reflected in the UI at the next render() or similar.
