Chart markers #1983
Comments
Yeah, it's on our radar but hasn't made it to the roadmap quite yet. |
Definitely on the radar, the plan is to implement it via the "top hits" aggregation |

Would be really useful to allow people to add ad-hoc markers stored in the .kibana index. This could be used to mark findings during an investigation. For example, if there is a spike in a metric and your investigation determined it was because of a raid controller failure, you would add that as a marker so that when anyone else looking later knows the cause of the spike. |
Automatic and manual placement of markers would be really useful on data with start and end points, particularly overlapping ones. It would be nice if it could be configured per field value. The logic might be something like: if field [status] == [start] then place marker or place [start] marker. If not, manual placement could be made workable too, so long as the position of all the marker is specified in a URI of a dashboard. |
Would the top_hits work similarly to the previous setup in Kibana 3? |

+1 - seems like a strange feature to have dropped. |
Any update on this? |

We also have a need of this feature, but more along the line of being able to define a set of marker queries that are saved to the kibana index. Each of these markers could be assigned a different UI visualization(icon, color etc). Then for each visualization select one or more defined markers to apply to the graph. |

Closing in favor of #2706, which has more detail on the use case. |
Hi,
Are there plans to allow us to add events to our graphs? Similar to the kibana 3 events.
Thanks,
Braden
