The querystring filter provides great functionality for power users, however some Kibana users may not be so familiar with the structure of the underlying messages. To make searching more user friendly, it would be great if filters could be wrapped/exposed via form inputs, specifically text, radio and checkbox. This would allow a dashboard owner/maintainer to implement the nitty gritty details of searching the given logs while guiding the end user via familiar inputs. The input elements should be editable without needing to click into an edit view like today with the existing terms and querystring filters.
The terms filter gets pretty close to the text input, however it doesn't allow wildcards which is a deal breaker.
