I have been trying to install duckdb on Linux Mint running on Debian12 both directly and from within the RStudio console. I have tried the CRAN instance as well as the instance on Github. The posix repository redirects to CRAN. The installation fails every time with the same warning. The log listing and warning are attached

Didn't look at the attachment but I'll just assume this is similar.

Here's my output:

It's unclear to me which of these errors is the actual culprit (if any).
Dropped posit from my repos so that only CRAN is left but the error remains.

/edit: install.packages("duckdb", repos = c("https://duckdb.r-universe.dev", "https://cloud.r-project.org")) seems to work - at least it doesn't fail right away and has been burning CPU for the last 10 minutes
/edit2: Install didn't finish in ours, aborted.

Thanks. Installing duckdb on Linux is easiest from binary, e.g., https://p3m.dev/client/#/repos/cran/packages/overview?search=duckdb . Does this work for you?

It did actually--though it took ages. Thanks for the pointer. I'm looking forward to working with it

What do you mean by "it took ages"? Installing from binary should be super-fast. My response was slow, though.

Sorry for the misleading phrasing. No aspersions on your response were intended. The installation took about 30 minutes on my (admittedly not exactly new) Asus. It is the longest anything has ever taken.
However, first, thanks once again (a) for responding and (b) pointing me to the right source.
Second, just to confirm, I am looking forward to learning how to work with the system.

Pulling the binaries manually isn't quite a feasible option for me. It would mean managing a different update stream just for duckdb. I rely on renv to provide reproducible environments (as far as it gets with R).
