Consider optionally checking for the stored device name register on connection

In addition to the WhoAmI register check, it might be useful to provide the option for checking the user-configurable device name. This would allow us to ensure we are connecting to the right device (and not just the right device type) in a more user-friendly way (rather than using the unique serial number which can be hard to remember; although we can also later allow checking for that too).
