New Item Dimension attributes for Home product types

Hi All,

Starting October 1, 2021 new attributes for item dimensions will be required for Home Product Types.

The existing item_dimensions attribute will be replaced with product specific attributes that offer clear definitions and product type-specific constraints. The new attributes will be introduced in July and August.

For example: For the Shelf product type, there will be 3 new attributes: Depth (front to back), Width (side to side), and Height (base to top).

The descriptions will be more specific to provide guidance. For example: Depth will be defined as "Provide the measurment of the shelf from front to back in the assembled position."

This change is intended to standardize item dimensions and improve the customer's shopping discovery and purchasing experience.

The new item dimension attributes by product type will be required for new ASIN listings and when existing ASINs are updated.
The new attributes will be required in 1x1 and CuTe templates on July 22, 2021. XSDs will require the new attributes on October 1, 2021. New ASINs that do not have the new attribute values will be search suppressed after October 1, 2021.

Which marketplaces are affected?

This change affects the Canada, US, Mexico, Brazil, Spain, UK, France, Netherlands, Germany, Italy, Egypt, Turkey, United Arab Emerites, India, Singapore, Australia, and Japan marketplaces.

Who is affected?

Developers with applications that upload or update product listings based on the category-specific inventory file templates are affected by this change.

What action is required?

If you have an application that is affected by this change, make sure to:

• Base your application workflow on the latest inventory file templates.
• Ensure that the fields in the header line of your feed match the fields in the latest template for that feed.
