#tr.en: protection of the Ebabbar, favorite brother of Marduk, the trust of Babylon, on [your] comman[d]
#note: This witness to Shamash 1 seems to have skipped a line in the prayer, a line that begins with ana ZALAG₂-ka. See also BM 38619 (= P545379), rev. 14, among others.
14'. u₂-taq-qu-u DINGIR-ME {d}i₂-gi₃-gi₃ UN-MEŠ DAGAL-ME ṣal-mat qaq-qad₂ [i-da-la-la qur-di-ka]

15'. GURUŠ <DILI> tap-pa-a tu-šar-ši ana la i-ša₂-ri ta-nam-din ap-lu ed-[lu-ti sik-kur AN{+e}]
#tr.en: You make the lone man acquire a friend. You provide an heir to the impotent man. You open (see r16ˊ) the loc[ked bolts of the heavens].
#note: I think it is likely that the scribe has omitted the single horizontal wedge comprising DILI on accident. If the text is to be read as it is written, then the text asserts a very broad generality about Shamash: kal tap-pa-a tu-šar-ši, "you make everyone acquire a friend."
16'. tu-pat-tu₂ ana la na-ṭil GAR <<nu>> ZALAG₂ ṭup-pi ar-mu NU BAD{+a} [ta-ša₂-as-si]

17'. ina ŠA₃ UDU.NITA₂ SAR{+ar₂} UZU DI.KUD DINGIR-ME be-lu {d}i₂-[gi₃-gi₃ ...]
#tr.en: Inside the sheep, you write the signs. O judge of the gods, lord of the I[gigi, . . .]
#note: There is room at the end of the line for five or six signs, probably. The only available phrase in other witnesses is ta-ša₂-kan di-na, "you establish the decision," which occurs prior to the two epithets in the present line. It may be that our scribe skipped that phrase (or it was not present in his exemplar) and was left with a lot of empty space at the end of his line. This is unexpected, however, since the scribe does not abide by poetic line breaks in his copy. So perhaps there was some additional phrase or epithet in his text that occupied the gap at the end of the line that is not attested in the other witnesses.
18'. EN ši-mat KUR at-ta-ma šim-tu₂ ši-me a-lak-tu₂ SIG₅{+iq} li-ši-ra# [GISKIM-MEŠ-u-a lid-mi-qa]
#tr.en: You (are) the lord of the fate of the land. Determine (my) fate; make my way favorable. Let [my signs] be favorable. [Let my dreams (see r19ˊ) be propitious].
#note: EN is written on the left edge of the tablet, apparently omitted in the initial copying of the tablet and inserted later.
19'. MAŠ₂.GE₆-u₂#-a# MAŠ₂#.GE₆ aṭ-ṭul ana SIG₅{+tu₂} šuk-nu i-ša₂-riš lul-lik tap#-[pa-a lu-uk-šu-ud]

#note: We do not expect šuk-nu here. Other witnesses have šuk-na, ms imperative + ventitve.
