Dashboard hangs if hero images use big files

I've linked a few courses to high-res photos, and this can cause the dashboard to hang for several seconds while they're loaded.

May be better to load the thumbnails here? Although the thumbs are a lower resolution than the hero div size, so we may need to do something about that too.
