Description

When creating or modifying a link in the Gutenberg editor, the element is not displayed in its entirety. The element gets hidden beneath the left sidebar with modules if the text we are selecting is too close to the edge of the document.

Step-by-step reproduction instructions

  1. In article editing, I select the text with a hyperlink and click on it.

  1. I click on the edit element, and I can't see the entire link that I want to modify.

  1. Modifying a hypertext link is more difficult to accomplish.

Thank you for help.

Thank you for reporting this @KatalonGIT

I seem unable to reproduce this. This is what I see:

Kapture.2023-06-05.at.18.06.59.mp4

Could you please confirm the following?

  • What version of WordPress are you using?
  • Are you also using the Gutenberg plugin? If so, what version?
  • Did you deactivate all other plugins?
  • Are you using one of the default block themes (Twenty Twenty-Two or Twenty Twenty-Three)?

Also, if you could share a screencast video of your entire screen to illustrate this issue, that'd be very helpful.

Thank you!

This issue was reviewed in today's Editor Bug Scrub. I was able to replicate and thanks for reporting @KatalonGIT, this is a tricky one.

So this issue seems to occur when the editor is not iframed. So if using Gutenberg, if you enable a plugin like Yoast, which includes a metabox, the post Editor will no longer be iframed and you should be able to replicate.

This is part of the reason why there is a current effort, led by @ellatrix, to iframe the post Editor. Not sure if there is an easy way to solve this though in the interim. 🤔
