Maybe we could do something like this (with the grey being semi-transparent, I couldn't find an easy way to do it), where clicking on any over the greyed-out parts will stop recording as well as the app losing focus (which tbh feels like something else that should be sorted)

Hmm, my main concern is with keeping track of the recording book.

Should I move the call to the hook one level up to Macroview.tsx and pass it to all the sections?
