Errors Playing Matroska Files #5618
Comments
I installed Docker version per Jellyfin's wiki instructions and used version 10.8.8. My Matroska files play fine in this version. According to log I had version 10.8.5-8 and they were good with that version as well. Something changed in version 10.8.9-9 to break these files. I have a work around to use the DLNA server to watch these at this time, They stream proper there in all versions. |
Not a SynoCommunity issue, please post this upstream (https://github.com/jellyfin/jellyfin/issues) |
Thank you. I'll post upstream. |
Did you install our ffmpeg version it's more capable than the ffmpeg version from synology. It's possible that the command to transcode has changed in the jellyfin update can you grab a transcode log file where it failed? @th0ma7 might be more knowledgeable there. |
@BenjV if it worked in docker but doesn't work with our package it could be an issue with our ffmpeg @dasgregor can you check if the problem goes away with the 10.8.9 version in docker? If not than yea it's an upstream issue. |
Also, you may want to try out upcoming |
@publicarray, Thank you for the response. I believe I am using the ffmpeg version from synology. I think it was downloaded when I used DS Video. Jellyfin is by far a superior product over DS Video, and I went to it after Synology stopped support for DS Video on Roku. Yes, I can install the 10.8.9 Docker version and test later this week. I can also look for your ffmpeg package and see if I can replace what I am using. It tries to work, but it seems to stall and fail after only playing the first bit of the movie. These are BD Rips using MakeMKV, I didn't want to lose too much sound and video quality, so the file sizes are quite large. I noticed my smaller TV shows that are ripped the same way were failing directly after the update, but suddenly they started working recently. I haven't checked. Most of my DVD collection, I've been using Handbrake and putting them in MP4 files. Those still work great. DS Video never really handled Matroska file well on Roku. They stuttered a lot when played. I was happy when I transitioned into Jellyfin, because everything worked great right up front until this recent update. |
@publicarray, I checked ffmpeg today. It is the version from SynoCommunity by Vincent Fortier version 4.4.3-47. I've been too busy to do the Docker upgrade/check, but will get to that soon and test. |
As far as I know emby will only use the ffmpeg that can be found in "usr/local/ffmpeg". |
@publicarray, I checked ffmpeg today. It is the version from SynoCommunity by Vincent Fortier version 4.4.3-47. I've been too busy to do the Docker upgrade/check, but will get to that soon and test. Also, I installed the 10.8.9 Docker version, and it seems to work. It buffered when the movie first started, but then played without crashing. I only played 4-5 minutes, but that is more than I can get with the Jellyfin package. I changed the server back to my Jellyfin SynoCommunity package and repeated to make sure the problem was still present. It was. The video buffers after a few seconds of play twice then errors. |
@publicarray FFmpeg upgraded on my Synology yesterday (4/11/23). It is the version from SynoCommunity. This fixed my videos. The only weirdness I am getting now is with the audio. If I don't choose an audio track that the Roku supports, it errors out immediately. Before, it would use the first usable track. This is easily worked around by choosing the supported audio track manually. So I feel the newest SynoCommunity package of Jellyfin was built with a version of FFmpeg that was not released yet. |
