End of Support for IE11 should be mentioned #1697
Comments
@boghyon Please check this blog post Planned End of Support of Internet Explorer 11 for SAPUI5 and Fiori Launchpad |
Hi @stephania87, I'm aware of that post as I already mentioned that page in my initial comment above. IMHO, the end of support is a crucial information which should be mentioned in the documentation (e.g. in Browser and Platform Support). This would also avoid uncertainty or misconception that UI5 supports IE11 as long as MS supports it because of the quote I mentioned. |
My bad. The question is forwarded internally and I will post later the update here. |
The creator of the blog post already started the discussion internally. Results can be seen in the latest OpenUI5 nightly documentation - https://openui5nightly.hana.ondemand.com/#/topic/74b59efa0eef48988d3b716bd0ecc933 |
Ok, not sure what is expected from me (because of the "author action" label). I'll just close this issue since the note about EOS is mentioned in the documentation. Thank you. |
I just wanted to confirm the information in the documentation is what you need :) |
does any of this change with the recent announcement concerning chromium? |
I don't think the Edge announcement changes anything. (compare the note in https://openui5nightly.hana.ondemand.com/#/topic/74b59efa0eef48988d3b716bd0ecc933 to the non-nightly version) |
Just a short update:
|
Yes, thank you for the update :) |
In the topic Browser and Platform Support, it is mentioned that browsers are supported as long as supported platforms support those browsers:
which may conclude that UI5 supports IE11 as long as Microsoft supports it.
According to Microsoft, IE11 is supported until the end of Windows 10 which is on October 14, 2025. However, in the recent article by Oliver, UI5 will end the support for IE when MS stops supporting Windows 7 which is on January 14, 2020.
If the article is still valid, it would be nice if the demokit would also mention the upcoming end of support for IE11.
