Related roles

Assuming bilingual efficiency, translating from English to another language would make one a 'Translator'. Proper understanding of both languages is crucial. Translators are encouraged to offer feedback on the quality+user-friendliness of English-language messages as well. Translators don't necessarily have to understand any data.table internals, though of course familiarity with the package will help lead to higher-quality translations.

A separate role (namely, 'Translation Manager') would be assigned to one who communicates with the aforementioned 'Translators' and is actively involved with the translation aspects of data.table. The Translation Manager should be more familiar with data.table internals, and will need to understand the basics of gettext() and its interface through R, including possibly through the {potools} package.
