Something like this?
I've recoloured the vinegar glass icon, don't think it would be a good idea to fill it with a red liquid since people could mistake it with Wine icon.
Or maybe a better approach would be to leave it dark and symbolic?

@morganist I think it's better to make it the dark symbolic on the white square, or light symbolic on the dark square.

The dark symbolic (or light symbolic) I think would be fine. Really the most off putting thing about the original was that it's much bigger than other Papirus icons.

maybe... but i'm not a fan of papirus icons with plain light backdround, their shape is almost unlegible when using light themes.

and the icon in general would become bright, whereas the original icon is, well, pure black.
