Pitfalls to avoid while using labman_ud

There are some common errors that every labman_ud user is going to make at the start. In this page we describe them and their solutions.

Multiple names for the same person

When adding new papers with the browser plugin to Zotero it is easy to end with more than one version of the same name (e.g. John Smith, J. Smith). Use the nickname field in the person model to list them. This can be done using the admin panel (/admin/). The management (/management/) panel also provides a tool to detect similar names.

Repeated tags

Something similar can happen with the tags. Tags are not validated when they are added to the projects or the papers, so it is to have several versions of the same tag (e.g Intelligent Environment, Intelligent Environments, Smart Environments). Modify the tag model using the admin panel (/admin/) to point out which tags are the same.
