Hello,
I've been looking to setup OSVR HDK 1.4 for Elite Dangerous. It was impossible to make it work using a combination of driver versions for the different components (including the last up to date) in extended mode. So I switched to Direct mode and... Tadaaaaaaa! Could have a clean screen on my device after launching E:D... But I realized that I have lost the head tracking when i wanted to enjoy it.
I tried to troubleshoot using the tracking tool provided with OSVR SDK but still didn't figure it out (restarted several times both HDK and computer).
Must also notice than Steam compositor is still displaying a red screen of death and steamVR is set to status "Not Ready"...

Same issue in Direct Mode, I loose the head tracking, then the USB connection.

I have issues with this as well, but I noticed mine were intermittent. Sometimes head tracking would die and sometimes it wouldn't and I'd be able to play games just fine. I think it's not specifically head tracking that's dying, but the USB connection as @demonixis pointed out. I have other USB devices connected that die as well (in particular my mouse just stops working and I have to re-plug it), so maybe it's something to do with USB bandwidth or some other conflict.

@djdevin which firmware version are you using for the OSVR headset? Some of the newer versions have partially or completely solved this issue

@Ay0w if you're getting a red screen of death, try adjusting the resolution in Display properties — switch from 1920x1080 to 1080x1920 or vice-versa, and see what happens. The autodetection code for resolution and specifically rotation is not quite perfect yet.

@VRguy I use the latest version 1.92

@d235j Ok i will try swapping between resolutions and give a feedback.
@djdevin I will double check that. But if i remember correctly it seems to me that the green led on the camera was green :) which normally is not the case if the USB connection is dead, and on OSVR server logs i couldn't see anything particular mentioning a "not found" camera. But thank you for your input. I'm gonna use the weekend to perform a clean re-installing of the latest drivers/runtime and test all that...
