krun is part of the crun project. It is a OCI container runtime that spawns an isolated, minimal KVM virtual machine when a container is started.

The crun main package is already packaged, see:
https://github.com/NixOS/nixpkgs/tree/master/pkgs/by-name/cr/crun

The krun sub package though is not packaged, yet.

there seems to be a krun package, which description reads what we want to achieve. Is this sufficient or is this issue about something else? Do we need a special wrapper around krun for containers or is the name clash an accident?

The situation is confusing, there seem to be several projects named krun

• https://github.com/containers/crun - krun as a subpackage of crun, written (as far as I can see) in C <= this is the one I want
• https://github.com/slp/krun, forked from https://github.com/AsahiLinux/muvm, written in rust

should help reducing the confusion and unblocking packing of krun from crun
