Removal of el8 Support

Hello,

Any reason support for el8 was removed for the last two releases? It wasn't indicated in the changelog so it came as a surprise while I was bumping the version in my project. Thanks in advance!

The old packages were built with CentOS Stream 8, which went EOL at the same time as CentOS Linux 7:

The new packages are instead built with AlmaLinux 8 and AlmaLinux 9, so that means that they are "el":

• Remove end-of-life packaging distributions #383 (centos support was removed in 895f1b6)
