If a ground unit arrives at the map edge and still has remaining MP it should be allowed to flee immediately.

Perhaps as an unofficial option

there is another small issue related

ASFs that hit the map edge out of control just stay there until they stall out and crash

Just realize that we don’t enforce the unit destroyed part of that

or they recover

It might be a good idea to note which edge the unit retreated on in case the campaign system wants to use it.
