I prefer creating fields using the ACF GUI and storing them in JSON files. However, I still need to include the fields method in the block definition file because it’s required by some interface.
For now, I’ve been returning an empty array from this method, but I’m concerned that this approach might confuse my coworkers. It would be great if this method weren’t mandatory, simplifying the process and reducing potential confusion for everyone involved.
Please consider implementing this change.
