I miss this especially while working on projets bigger than 200 bars.
Moving a clip from one part of the project to another requires dragiing and scrolling the view multiple times.

How I imagine this could work is - if dragging an item (a clip) in the Song Editor the view could automatically start scrolling left or right if the mouse pointer goes beyond the left or right Song Editor window borders. It's possible to move a clip in a place you can't see, so I think it'd be very intuitive if that started scrolling the view. Plus it should go faster the further you stretch beyond the border.

What do you think?

+1000000. Dragging clips from beginning to end really gets on my nerves.

would a context-option : Copy This Segment to bar ... -be a useful feature?
User then enter the bar-num, and a copy of the segment is inserted at that spot.
Focus is then at the copy-to spot
(What i tend to do now, is to park the playhead at the copy-to pos, set playhead behavior to start-in last-pos. Find the wanted segment. Copy. Press play. (lmms jump to wanted pos) Stop, and then paste segment. -Thats a little convulated, but it does work)

I personally believe entering numbers for re-positioning items in a GUI is clunky and should only be used as a fallback to it's interactive equivalent.

+1 for copy and pasting them, but scrolling would be very useful regardless.

Plus copy/paste is useless for selecting a segment of the song editor and wanting to move all of it.

Well, to move, you'd use cut/paste, right? Yes, that's broken, as well as copy/paste, but in 1.0.90, you can certainly move multiple segments and copy them too using the mouse, but copying them requires you to select a group of patterns and then CTRL+drag (or ⌘+drag on Mac).

Not ideal, but works OK. 🍻

Wow, did not know that. This needs to become a LMMS tip. 👍

IIRC this only works in master branch

Combing this into #2291 as a housekeeping measure. I understand this isn't a play-head specific enhancement, but I feel it still falls well into the "Autoscroll" category. Please feel free to continue commenting here if needed.
