Dragged Instruments are affected by vst windows [ long standing bug, linux] #1020
Comments
different in win32xp.
Repeated for BB
-What vst did it fail with - its on linux ? |
Ok see my video in the link. Do note that I will have to change my initial bug report as I must have been dragging past another vst when i described the vst window being behind caused a problem, when indeed it does not as seen in the vide. But my initial bug report still stands as " Instruments dragged over any VST will not be allowed to drop into any tracks" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a18o_VxZTEc&feature=youtu.be @musikBear So in win32xp you were able to drag past a VST window and still drop your instrument onto a track? thanks Mikobuntu ;) Date: Thu, 24 Jul 2014 05:30:29 -0700 different in win32xp. Tested with synth1 I stacked lmms-vst-ui on synth1-gui and Dragged instrument from: 'Instrument-plugin' -Worked — |
mikobuntu, yes -you can see the sidebar open and the synth1 gui between both BB and SE. |
@musicbear Ok this then looks like a linux specific bug/artefact , as my original bug stated I guess it could be down to the window management and most probably ubuntu's gnome Desktop and/or wine ( other linux distros may vary [ needs testing folks] ). Date: Thu, 24 Jul 2014 08:15:57 -0700 mikobuntu, yes -you can see the sidebar open and the synth1 gui between both BB and SE. I can drag OVER synth1 gui, and INTO either BB or SE and drop an instrunet from sidebar, and/or 'My-presets' I just now recreated you video scene, eg placed resp. SE and BB directly in the middle of synth1 gui. Also in that setup, i can drop working instruments. I noticed one strange thinng in your video -looked like there for a brief moment was TWO synth1 guis -Did you by chance double-loaded, or also had a 'prehear' gui. (or was it just a record mishap?) Anywhitch - also tested the same setup with an orphan prehear vst-gui. Again the instruments loaded with no problem (1.092) — |
@mikobuntu Do you (or anyone else, for that matter) still experience this bug? I can't reproduce it (LMMS 1.2.0-rc7, Ubuntu 14.04, Wine 3.0.1, tested all embedding modes). |

This may be a window manager problem, especially as we are working essentially in an emulated environment with wine.
To reproduce drag a preset or instrument from the browser and have it pass over a vst window, now we can not drop this preset/instrument in either the BB_Editor or Song_Editor.
