If there's no announcements maybe we don't need to show the blank list when the app opens?

I'm thinking something like "My SCaLE at a glance" page. If there are unread announcements it shows up on this page. I'm thinking a "My next talk" section of the page that shows the name of the next talk the user has stored in their "My Schedule" list. Along with any other "at a glance" type stuff we and the users want

This is a brilliant solution.
