subtitle: And it doesn't sound like I'm the only one
slug: smartphone-addiction-1
I've been thinking about this weekly, for a long time, at least 7 years. It's a big part of my life, and right from the beginning I knew I had to write this out at some point, so here goes.
The main purpose of this post is to structure my thoughts around this whole problem (disease?). Maybe you'll recognize parts of this in yourself, and it'll make you reflect on your own habbits and patterns - or maybe you won't recognize this at all, in which case I'm happy for you!
I clearly remember the first time I thought about this: It was at a casual family gathering, parents, siblings and kids meeting up for a barbeque once a year. We don't see each other often in my family, so these occasions are rare and special.
Yet at one point I look around and see that every single person was staring at their smartphone, without interacting with each other at all (including me!). We had only been together for 1-2 hours, so it was a little early to get tired of the company.
