"Download Error: Download Interrupted" error occurred on Chrome Web Store

Description

Download the FlowCrypt browser extension on https://chromewebstore.google.com/detail/flowcrypt-encrypt-gmail-w/bnjglocicdkmhmoohhfkfkbbkejdhdgc does not work and an error "Download Error: Download Interrupted" is displayed.

This problem limits Chrome/Chromium-based browsers to install the extension. Firefox users are unaffected.

Steps to reproduce

1. Open https://chromewebstore.google.com/detail/flowcrypt-encrypt-gmail-w/bnjglocicdkmhmoohhfkfkbbkejdhdgc in your browser.
2. Click on Add to Chrome or Add to Brave.
3. Wait a few seconds for the download attempt to get started.
4. The error "Download Error: Download Interrupted" will occur without any details.

@martgil I contacted Google support for possible reasons of this error. Extension downloads were working correctly last week, so can be some change on Google side which caused download issue.

Thanks @sosnovsky for checking this issue. I can confirm that the extension download works well last week too. The reporting user is informed and I'll get him constant updates regarding this. Hopefully this isn't last a week.

If by any chance the problem lasts a week, would we be considering to build and make a GitHub release for those users in need?

I hope this issue will be fixed later today, but if it'll take too long - we'll find some alternative way for extensions distribution, like download from our website.

this is unfortunately not yet working as of now.

In regard to alternative distribution: yes, downloads from the website are definitely a good additional way to distribute. But I think for ease of installing and "onboarding" to a new extension, the chrome web store is a much lower the barrier for a lot of users - compared to find the download.
