This update introduces two new environmental health indicators to the CEJST tool via EJScreen data at the census tract level. These additions will provide users with enhanced insights into air and water quality in DACs (Disadvantaged Communities). Users will see these indicators in the downloadable DAC community file, interactive map, and sidebar.
Expected Outcomes for Users
New Burden Indicators: The inclusion of these EJScreen indicators will help identify communities facing additional environmental risks:
Ozone Levels: Census tracts with elevated ozone levels will be highlighted, indicating areas facing significant air quality challenges. This data will be visible in the map, sidebar, and downloadable file.
Drinking Water Non-Compliance: Tracts with instances of drinking water non-compliance will be flagged, providing insight into water quality issues that may impact community health. This data will be reflected across the map, sidebar, and downloadable file.
These new indicators will provide users with a more comprehensive view of environmental health burdens.
