Friendly traceback is a Python package by André Roberge, which aims to offer beginner-friendly Python error messages. See the documentation for more info: https://aroberge.github.io/friendly-traceback-docs/docs/html/

Thonny supports Friendly traceback since version 3.2.5. In order to use it, you need to

  1. Install friendly-traceback (with "Tools => Manage packages" or pip on command line);
  2. Enable it via "Tools => Options => Assistant". Level 0 means Thonny won't use it at all. FT's default level is 1. The meaning of levels is described here: https://aroberge.github.io/friendly-traceback-docs/docs/html/design.html#verbosity.

The language used by friendly-traceback depends on Thonny's UI language (Tools => Options => General). English is used as fallback in case the selected language is not available in friendly-traceback.
