Configure a limited range of eMail addresses for self registration

I'd like to limit the registration of new users to a configurable list of restricted eMail adresses.

Idea is to configure a list of eMail addresses and/or a list of regular expressions for eMail addresses that are allowed to self register.

That would help to keep the registration enabled in a public way but ensure that only limited users or users with a certain organizational eMail address can self register.
